I managed to avoid the record shop for a whole year. Oops.
Now I need a turntable, because once I've started I can't stop.

Yeah also I was gonna post this. I think Wavves is a pretty cool guy. Eh makes music and doesn't afraid of anything.

Echos.

Pretty average new single from Klaxons, no doubt we're going to be hearing a lot of this. From the sound of it I'm guessing they're going for a more radio friendly rock sound, eschewing the frantic electro that made their name.

The video looks pretty cool though.

My friends Drink and Drive are supporting Future of the Left tonight at Moho Live.
I'm excited about this, I've not seen them since February and I've wanted to see FotL again since Leeds Festival. Should be most excellent. Come down if you can, there are two rooms of music going down.

Witch House.

Somewhere between shoegaze, chillwave, dubstep and video game music is this...

Also called tumblrcore, all bands with unpronouncable names and kittens-in-space-triangles for logos. It's like the whole thing is some marketing ploy designed to appeal to 18 year olds with tumblr accounts full of cross processed photos of floral dresses.
Whatever, I'm sure we won't be hearing loads more of this in months to come.

David Hockney's photomosaic for Talking Heads' second album.
590 polaroids is a lot of instant photography.

Crystal Castles sample Sigur Ros

Listen to year of silence by Crystal Castles. Hell yeah that's a sample of Inní mér syngur vitleysingur. This is my news for today. I've handed in all my art work so I guess I'm at a bit of a loose end. I could be out in the sunshine but I'd rather just sleep.

I'm starting the trend for grainy digital photgraphy right now.

A vegetarian since the invasion, she'd never seen the word bombs
She'd never seen the words bombs, blown up to 96pt Futura

Oh Ezra Koenig, you have no idea how happy those lyrics make me.
WATCH the video to Oxford Comma to see what I mean.
The references are practically explicit.

The reason I always liked Vampire Weekend is because they sound like they could soundtrack a Wes Anderson film.
And don't they just know it!

In case you didn't notice the header to my blog is a reference to their first album cover, 'cause I'm cool like that.
Blogger doesn't want me to use Futura (Bold) though. Bastards!

O.N.E.

new yeasayer vid, y'all

I was apathetic about their new "pop" sound but I can't stop listening to Odd Blood. Looks like they're about to hit the big time.
How long before Topman start selling those outfits?
And how many 14 year old girls will be going round singing Ambling Alp?

Who cares, I liked them before they were popular.
