Conveyibg the very essence of pointlessness in art, the guy who trailed a stick against a fence and pushed a block of ice through Mexico city. Described in the Guardian today as "a man performing his own insignificance and futility". Well maybe he just wanted to push a block of ice around on a hot day. Maybe the whole things was a comment on how so-called intellectuals come up with a myriad of complex and philosophical meanings for the most simplistic of artworks. Usually I do things because they look good.
Not that I'm excluding myself from this category; as art students we are repeatedly told we must "find meaning in the works of others" in order to "pass this course". And the more pretetious the better. It's not a shark in a tank, it's "a stark reminder of mortality in the tradition of artistic representation". I like the shark in the tank, mostly because my granddad likes to use it as an example of why contemporary art is rubbish and also because it looks pretty badass.
Anyway I want to go to the Tate Modern to see "A Story of Deception" but I know I won't. The sad part is that I could definitely afford it, but who would care enough to come with me? It's kinda sad to go to London on your own. Not to mention probably "dangerous" as my mother would say.
